Bars can be fun, happy places, but they are also places where you can meet all sorts of different types of people. In general people come in to bars to socialize, let themselves go a bit and pick up a casual friend. They also go to bars to try to forget the worries and cares of life by having a few drinks.

It is good to remember that alcohol has a way of creeping up on you. Sometimes you may not be aware that you are slipping out of control. It can only take a few drinks; especially if you are trying some mixed ones, to get intoxicated. Try to control your drinking, so that you can maintain your decorum.

Do not accept drinks from a stranger. They can have spiked it and you can get into all sorts of trouble. Be cautious and remain in control of yourself. It is not worth the high of a few drinks when you have to face yourself afterwards.

The type of people who attend these bars may not be the ideal partner. They are rarely looking for a long-term relationship and are just expecting a casual relationship. If this is not what you are looking for then bar meetings may not be for you. Bars are known for being just pick-up places and so people are not expecting any lasting friendships. The same rules apply as with nightclubs, there is safety in numbers and you should always leave with your group and be careful of chance meetings. Watch out for each other and help each other if you see an awkward situation arising.

As you can see meeting people in bars is not without some risk and you will need to be extremely careful. If you are looking for a decent friendship let alone a meaningful relationship, bars may not be the best places to meet people. To go for a quick drink to relax with friends and unwind from work is the best way to use these places. However if you are looking for a relationship it is probably best to stay clear of these places.
