Some may like cooking enough to do it for a living. Some cooking jobs may cover the titles of;

apprentice cook

dietary cook

first cook

grill cook

hospital cook

institutional cook

journeyman/woman cook line cook

second cook

short order cook

Most of these type jobs dont require formal education and can be learned under another professional.

The tasks involved with cooks in this area may include but are not limited to:

- Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods

- Prepare and cook special meals for patients as instructed by dietitian or chef

- Schedule and supervise kitchen helpers

- Oversee kitchen operations

- Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment

- May set up and oversee buffets

- May clean kitchen and work area

- May plan menus, determine size of food portions, estimate food requirements and costs, and monitor and order supplies.

- May hire and train kitchen staff

Cooking for a living can be progressive and it may be something you find fulfilling. Knowing there is unlimited cooking potentials may keep your interest peaked.

As you proceed to learn all you can about cooking, it is a good idea to have a personal goal in mind. Where would you like to be as a cook?

Then dont be afraid to pursue this goal. Cooking can be more than a job, it can be a part of your life.
