Blog In The Era Of Web 2.0

Blogging has no doubt been a revolution. It has changed the way we do things on the Internet. And view information. The daily or periodic incremental information on a Blog site is dynamic as against a static web page. It provides information, which is being modified, changed, altered and added. Nothing can be more dynamic than this. On the surface, one may argue that personal web pages and websites have been in existence for a long time. What is new? What does providing information in a chronological order mean? The delivery of the information is different. This drives the advertising mechanism, which has to keep pace dynamically with the changing information. The revenue model simultaneously undergoes a dramatic change. All these factors align Blogs with Web 2.0 concepts. As can be noticed a Blog is not a package or software to be purchased or licensed. It is a loosely linked environment where people come together to express their views and share information. Instead of publishing information in the form of a web page, it is now a collaboration of information. These properties or inherent attributes which make it a Web 2.0 generation.

A further enhancement of Blog is the dynamic and instant communication of change. As and when a Blog is modified, changed or enhanced, a live update informing the readers about the change is transmitted. RSS feed in that way has given further impetus to the Blog dynamics. RSS is an inflexion in the development of web applications and a milestone in the migration path from Web 1.0 to Web 2.0.

An important factor, which enhances our Blog experience, is the feedback on issues being examined by Blogs. This add interactivity leads to a better understanding of the subject and in cases where the Blog is of technical nature, can even lead to breakthroughs and insights which mat not have been possible otherwise. This collaborative or networking ability of Blog ecosystem is a feature of Web 2.0. Advances in RSS technology not only allows for viewing on a Web page but also as a desktop application and in some cases allows for access through out mobiles and portable devices.
