Recovering From Gambling Addiction

Go on, give it a shot, just one try wouldnt hurt. Taking chances on pure luck is one option that people getting addicted to gambling goes into. The risk of making big money out of small bucks is quite addictive especially when the stakes are unbelievably high.

Gambling had become a passion to those who have the money and power to be playing the game of the gods. Even small town lottery can be addictive. Whatever game it is, for as long as there is money involved, no matter how small it is, its still gambling. When can gambling be an addiction and how do people recover from the situation? Read on.

When someone in your family have become attached to their past time of spending a lot of money for betting on something and doesnt win anything substantial, it can be concluded that the person is suffering from gambling addiction.

First, things will get lucky. You might win a hundred dollars in slot machines and then try again to prove that its going to be your day of becoming million dollar rich. Gambling can be in any form and can attract all ages.

With emphasis that gambling can come in small packages, even when your child is playing game cards with his friends and start exchanging things out of that game, he is practicing gambling in small ways.

The growing number of addiction in gambling is rampant nowadays. Why? Its because people need not go outside to gamble. Online gambling is accessible for those who are craving for the satisfaction. But there is a higher risk than the actual game.

Gambling is a do or die battle.

Whats disturbing is that there are more prevalence of teenagers getting hooked up with gambling than adults. Some even compromise their lives for the sake of gambling. They would even spend more than they can afford.

Gambling is an addiction meant for people who loves going to a night out with a couple of friends. Gambling is an addiction that interferes with a persons mental, social and emotional aspect.

In the United States, there is about four to five percent of the population who are addicted to gambling. Typically, there are two kinds of gamblers namely: the action gambler and the escapist gambler.

An action gambler is someone who craves for gambling every waking day which is usually common in men. While an escapist gambler, which is more common to women, is a gamblers attitude to bet on something when they are under a difficult situation or just to withdraw from a hard days work.

Once you have realized that this problem is already evident within the walls of your home, its time to do something about it and do it in a moderate, non-aggressive manner. What can you do about it?

1. Ask for help. If your children are the ones who are bearing this addiction, you can confide it to significant others like your husband, wife, mother, etc. Their opinions will give you a clearer view on how to approach the problem.

2. Cut off money access. If you have seen how your teenage son is getting addicted with online gambling, better cut off his allowance and advice him to carry just small amounts of money just enough to get him through the day.

3. Contact anonymous groups who are willing to help in getting someone in your family out of the situation.

These suggestions will greatly help in recovery from gambling addiction.
