Adult Acne Skin Care Products

You know once we get older we shouldn't have to suffer from things we had to endure when we were teenagers. It's just not fair. But the reality is that many adults suffer from acne, it's actually quite common. Take heart, though, there are adult acne skin care products and tips that you can use starting today which will help eliminate, or at least decrease, your acne flareups.

Acne in adults is often caused by the same reasons you had it as a teenager. Everything from toxins in your environment, like exhaust fumes and dust, can have a very strong, and very bad, impact on your skin.

Stress is another huge catalyst for breakouts. Today we have enormous amounts of stress on us. With our responsibilities to our jobs, our families, and ourselves, our society is more stressful now that at any time in history, despite all of our advances.

Another possible catalyst for adult acne are hormonal fluctuations. Women who are pregnant, peri menopausal, or menopausal, undergo immense hormonal changes. These changes can affect everything from their mood, to their appetite, and yes, even their skin.

Now that I've identified some of the reasons adults have acne, lets concentrate on what we can do to lessen the number, and severity of those breakouts.

Again, treating adult acne isn't much different than treating acne at any other age. The first thing you want to do is keep your skin clean. When you have an outbreak and you are desperate to clear it up as soon as possible, you may be tempted to wash your face many times a day. Don't.

Over washing your face can just make your skin raw, and painful. The best way to keep your skin clean is to use a gentle, non abrasive cleaner on your face twice a day.

Rinse thoroughly with warm, not hot, water and use a soft towel to gently pat dry your face. Don't rub. The last thing you want to do is irritate your skin further.

stay out of the sun. If you are going to be outside make sure to wear a hat and use sunscreen. Not only will overexposure to the sun dry your skin and force your sebaceous glands to secrete more oil making your acne worse, you will also prematurely age your skin if you get too much sun.

And never forget, healthy skin starts on the inside, not the outside. Make sure you properly fuel your body with a wide selection of healthy fruits and vegetables. If your body is getting all the nutrients it needs it will be better able to keep all your systems 'in check' and that includes your skin.

Moisturizing your skin also starts on the inside. Make sure you keep your body hydrated. Drink at least eight glasses of water daily. And remember, pop, coffee, or tea don't count.

When it comes to finding a good acne treatment product it's mostly a question of trial and error. There are many products on the market today. Some will work for some people but not others. Find the one that works best for you and stick with it. Don't keep changing from one product to the next. Also try to find products that are organic and don't contain a lot of harmful chemicals.

Having bad skin at any age is no fun, having acne as an adult is just adding insult to injury. But don't give up, there are adult acne skin care products and techniques that can help you have better skin starting right now.
